Fall Sale Staff Wine Picks – Part 2

Post by South Lyndale Liqours

Fall Sale Staff Picks

South Lyndale Liquors fall sale. October 2nd - October 19th.

Fall is here and so is our sale - PART 2! Some of the more eclectic picks and some serious savings!
* Missed Part 1? Read it HERE.

Donn – St Gregory Pinot Meunier.

A relation to Pinot Noir used mostly in Champagne. Very few producers vinify 100% still wine Pinot Meunier, but Greg Graziano is a master! And he does a beautiful job. It’s richer than Pinot Noir without being heavy or full and is nuanced with baking spice.

FABULOUS! The great Pinot Noir alternative. Nearly full-bodied with a frim, almost chewy texture that balances ripe juicy flavors of warm strawberry, red & black cherry with an appetizing structure of moderate tannins & great acidity providing good intesity and length. This will be your new favorite red!

Randy – Leone di Castris “il Megdaglione” Primitivo

Tribidrag and Plavac Mali are the close relatives to the East and the far relative to the West is Zinfandel. In Italy, when done correctly the wine has bright and plush dark fruit with a nice earthy note, balanced acidity and pleasant tannin.

Meat counter savories to the end qualifies this as a versatile food friendly wild card. MANGIAMO!

Amanda – Adega Mae Viosinho

Indigenous to Portugal and wonderfully exotic! Terrifically textural with a saline note and herbal fringes. Tree fruit and stone fruit. Hard to explain but easy to drink. You have to try to really get it. There are not many wines out there to compare Viosinho to. Oh! Viosinho is the grape.

Do you like wine you've never heard of? Its hard to describe... It's lush but minerally. It has herbal notes but is tropical. Great acidity. Just. Good. Wine.

Cody – Teutonic Recorded in Doubly White Wine

Barnaby Tuttle knows music. He also has an obsession with wine, an obsession with German wine and an obsession with experimenting. While he generally works with Riesling this one is 100% Muscat! It is wildly aromatic and dripping with lychee and kiwi. A little residual sugar (RS) is left behind and necessarily so because Recorded in Doubly is screaming with acidity!

Packed with a fistful of punches of bright kiwi and lychee flavors! Teutonic came, showed, and dropped the mic in style with this 100% Muscat!

Matt – Ciacci Piccolomini Rosso di Montalcino

Baby Brunello. A little less weight but with tremendous elegance. Checks every mark. Fragrant and lively. Blue flower and baking spice. With supple cherry and all the things that make Montalcino wines Montalcino wines-dry herb, anise, tobacco, electric acidity and firm tannin.

This is a wine that is easy to enjoy any day of the week, but complex enough for special occasions. Enjoy with a variety of red meat, pork, and chicken. Perfect for getting into the fall season!
